Man stabs neighbour 15 times

During argument over corrugated iron

A man has been arrested for stabbing his elderly neighbour to death in an argument over corrugated iron, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old man had an argument with Sevinah Mdunge, 62, in Inanda around 2pm on Friday about corrugated iron - which had belonged to someone who had died, said Captain Thulani Zwane.

“The suspect... wanted to take the corrugated iron by force to build his house.

“It is alleged that the suspect pulled a knife and stabbed the victim 15 times in the body and head. She died at the scene,” said Zwane.

He said the man then ran away and stayed with relatives in Ladysmith.

He was arrested at their house on Monday.

A knife, which was believed to be the murder weapon, was seized.

He was expected to appear in the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
