THREE men accused of murder along with Johan Kotze will apply for bail this week in connection with an attack on Kotze's wife in Modimolle, the National Prosecuting Authority said

Spokesman Mthunzi Mhaga said they had acquired a new legal representative who had indicated he would seek bail tomorrow.

The State would oppose that application, he said.

Johan Kotze and three of his workers were arrested in January in connection with the rape and torture of his estranged wife Ina Bonette and the murder of his teenage stepson Conrad.

Kotze, 50, has opted to remain behind bars.

He was found after being on the run for eight days.

His co-accused, Mmapuru Peter Mohlako, Andries Paparona Sithole, and Sello Frans Mphaka were arrested within days of each other in different areas.

They were allegedly hired in January to help with some garden work.

On January 3, Kotze allegedly ordered his three workers at gunpoint to gang-rape his wife and mutilate her body with objects including nails, pliers, a grinder, and a screwdriver.

The four men face 17 charges including rape, murder, conspiracy to rape, kidnapping, and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
