Boys (16) in court for killing school mate

The victim was a grade 9 pupil who was stabbed to death. Another boy was hurt and is in hospital

Two teenage boys are to appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday over the stabbing and murder of a 16-year-old boy, Western Cape police said.

Lt-Col Andre Traut said the boys, also aged 16, were arrested after a Valhalla Park pupil was killed in a school yard argument on Tuesday.

He said they were being assessed before their appearance because they were minors.

The victim was Raylin Fortuin, a grade 9 pupil at Beauvallon Secondary School, said provincial education MEC Donald Grant’s spokeswoman Bronagh Casey.

Traut said a third 16-year-old involved in the argument was being treated in hospital and would make a court appearance at a later stage.
