Penny Lebyane leaves Thobela FM

POPULAR presenter Penny "The Phly One" Lebyane has quit Thobela FM.

Lebyane's resignation from the Limpopo-based Thobela FM comes barely a year after she joined the station.

Lebyane joined last year in July, raising eyebrows in showbiz since she once occupied an important slot at Metro FM.

She was joined in the Thobela FM line-up by award-winning presenter Thamagana Maxwell Mojapelo, popularly known as "Max the Mixerboy", who also made a surprise return to the Limpopo radio station after he had left it for nine years.

Lebyane, who hosted Madiboga a Gauta on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am to 1pm, refused to speak about her reported resignation.

"I am not talking to you about that. Speak to the people who told you that I have resigned. Speak to Thobela FM," said a livid-sounding Lebyane.

Thobela FM station manager Leuba Ramakgolo could not be reached for comment. He was said to be out of his office yesterday.

"In response to your enquiry below, the SABC can confirm that Ms Penny Lebyane has resigned from Thobela FM. In terms of the reason/s for her resignation, the SABC will not divulge this information as it is between the two parties," the SABC's Kaizer Kganyago said.
