Jacobs started with his duties at the beginning of the month.

Yesterday ANC spokesperson Keith Khoza confirmed Jacobs' appointment in Mantashe's office.

"The SG (Mantashe) is responsible for political work and the management of the organisation, and comrade Jacobs will be responsible for general administration in the office," Khoza said.

Jacobs served in the ANC Gauteng provincial executive until 2010.

He has also served in the provincial government as MEC for education, social development, as well as transport.
