Brigadier-General allegedly didn't want to pay a prostitute
The new commanding officer of the Tempe military base in Bloemfontein has been arrested on assault charges.
Brig-Gen David Cebeni, 47, was arrested on Sunday afternoon after a complaint was laid at the Park Road police station, the police's Captain Chaka Marope said.
Cebeni appeared in court on Monday and the matter was postponed until April 6.
Marope said charges of common assault and the pointing of an firearm were being investigated against Cebeni.
The complaints were laid by a woman.
Die Volksblad reported on Tuesday that the woman was allegedly a prostitute and that the incident happened after an argument over payment.
