National Treasury blacklist

AT LEAST 67 of the 125 entities and people will remain on the National Treasury database of restricted suppliers for the next eight to nine years.

A further 34 will have their names removed from the list later this year and next year.

Another 24 will be removed from the list in the next three years. The National Treasury blacklisted 18 suppliers and people for fronting and misrepresentation of facts.

Most of these companies have been restricted from doing business with government for periods ranging from five years to 10 years.

Sowetan asked National Treasury spokesman Bulelwa Boqwana if the blacklisted companies would be considered for doing business with the government once the period of restriction had lapsed.

Boqwana said: "They will not be penalised any further".
