IFP MP Zondi quits Parliament

Feb 8, 2012 | Sapa | 14 comments

INKATHA Freedom Party MP Reverend Musa Zondi has resigned from Parliament with effect from this month, Parliament says

RESIGNED: IFP's Musa Zondi

Zondi's resignation comes a month after the resignation of the party's national organiser Albert Mncwango.

Mncwango resigned last month from the position after more than a decade - reportedly at the request of the party's leadership.

His responsibilities included leading the Zululand District and Nongoma constituency.

The IFP had a difficult year in 2011 with its former chairwoman Zanele Magwaza-Msibi leaving the party to form the National Freedom Party (NFP).

In March, Mncwango's wife Sanelisiwe Mncwango defected to the NFP and three days she went back to the party.

Rev Zondi must come and join DA. We are ready to welcome you Rev. Our doors are open unlike the IFP ones. IFP must close its spaza sho'p now and take all their membership to DA. DA is the only party in SA who understand politics in our country. In SA politics, there is DA and the rest.

Good move Nondaba, you have noticed that Shenge is taking the party to the drains. These days he is busy spending the party money in courts, instead of calling for the National Conference that is long over due.

I thought this article is about Zondi's resignation but the writer change it to be about Mncwango family. That being said, as a member of ANC I celebrate when IFP is dying a slow death.

@Balobedu,
I am with you on this one. After the revelation of wasteful expenditure (of approx. R1.3 billion) by the eThekwini municipality I was left convinced that the ANC is taking this country down under. It is a pitty that Africans just seem not willing to learn from history. Hence I won't be surprised if the ANC increases its majority in the next elections despite all these blunders. It is no longer confined in Limpopo (although it is far worse in that province). Almost all the ANC run provinces are in a sorry state in terms of financial management.

I hated COPE, but I wish its glory days could come back. At the moment, the DA is the only viable option.

yesterday the party spokesperson was interviewed on p.m live and he flatly dismissed Zondi's resignation as untrue and malicious. this is a dead party that is still in denial maybe a change in leadership (buthelezi) will do some good to the party. Buthelezi has been its leader before most of us were born and i think he should give others a chance to lead the party. or may he is the only person in the party who is capable of leading the party.

I think IFP was inflatrated by too much white people who benefited from evils practised by Apartheid regime.The leaders in the party ended not considering to strategize for the progress of the party. The likes of Mntwana kaPhindangene, Mncwango and rest of the IFP leaders thought politics are just like traditional leaderships. They forgot that in politics though the discipline is crucial but freedom of debates on the party's policies and leadership change must be encourage alll time.

DA is advocating the white legacy of which this legacy was created at the expense of the blacks' lives, death or alive. There were no transperancy as it is now in ANC GOVT. The white people can not think of the black development and empowerment. The white people rather to think of the black development can think to create war amongst blacks the world over. I think agree with you,Ngwijikhwebu that we need more strong - genuine oppositions in South Africa politics. I think we must erode the rotten cultural elements brought by so academia, intellectualists and Generals all these western elements which brought upon the Africans nothing but laziness,arrogance and conspirancy amongst our GOVT leadership. These brought selfhatrate and inferiority complex
