Madonsela owns up after son crashes car PLUS here's what her son says

Feb 3, 2012 | Chandré Prince | 67 comments

PUBLIC Protector Thuli Madonsela has accepted full responsibility for her son crashing her luxury state-owned vehicle on Wednesday morning.

TAKING HEAT: Thuli Madonsela

Apart from offering to compensate the owners of the property damaged when her son, Wanda Madonsela, crashed her BMW X6 into their Pretoria house wall, Madonsela said she would also make herself available to internal processes.

"I will submit myself to internal processes regarding the use of state vehicles in line with my terms and conditions of my employment," Madonsela said, adding that she expects the law to take its course.

Madonsela was not a passenger at the time when the car was crashed in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Wanda did not suffer any injuries and reported the accident at the Garsfontein Police Station.

Yesterday, Wanda told a radio station that he crashed the car while swerving to avoid a dog.

According to regulations, the only time someone else may drive her state car is when Madonsela herself was a passenger.

Wanda claimed that he did not have his mother's permission to drive the vehicle at the time.

"I took my mother's car and her private petrol card. I bumped into one of my friends who needed a lift home. On my way back, I avoided a dog on the road and swerved into a wall," he told EWN radio.

The 23-year-old said he immediately informed his mother' s VIP Protection and Security Detail.

Tibza, what's wrong with you? Madonsela did not give his son a permission to drive her car. Blame this foolish young man for stealing not her. She did nothing. Kids will always be kids whether you're a pastor or minister.
