Books burnt at school

Same thing happened at the same school on opening day last year

Books and stationery were burnt in a suspected arson attack at a high school in Matlala on Wednesday morning, Limpopo police said.

“We really don’t know yet if it was pupils, teachers or someone else who burnt the supplies — we are investigating,” said Lt-Col Mohale Ramatseba.

The materials were burnt early in the morning in the staff room of BK Matlala High School causing estimated damage of R60,000.

No arrests have been made as yet.

No-one had been arrested for a similar crime at the school on opening day last year, where R360,000 worth of damage was caused by a fire in the library.

Ramatseba urged anyone with information on these crimes to contact the police.
