Mutilated body of man found on hill

Jan 12, 2012 | Nomaswazi Nkosi | 56 comments

RESIDENTS of Freedom Park yesterday woke up to a gruesome discovery of a man's mutilated body. His eyes were gouged out and a nose and left ear missing.

The man, Nkosinathi Mokonyana, 39, from Green Village, was found dumped on a hill a few metres from his girlfriend's house south of Johannesburg.

The girlfriend, Eunice Mthembu, 39, said she last saw Mokonyana on Tuesday when he left for Pretoria with one of her neighbours.

She called him when he did not return that night but his phone was switched off.

Neighbours woke her up at about 8.30am yesterday to tell her the shocking news.

The body was spotted by a resident who was on his way from a nearby shop.

Residents believe the murder could be a ritual killing.

It is claimed that a gunshot was heard around midnight but people were too afraid to investigate.

Mthembu said her boyfriend was a peaceful and nice man and he had no known enemies in the area as he lived somewhere else.

Police spokeswoman Captain Pinky Tsinyane said: "No one has been arrested yet but two men have been taken in for questioning because they were the last people seen with the deceased."

These are kind of issues we are facing, We need tougher Sentences for such crimes more like a deterrent measures, looking at what people have become, I am sure they are not afraid to die, So Death Sentence will be good..

I realise that this 'mooti magic' nonsense is a superstition from much further north of SA but I still can't understand the logic (even in obscure superstitions, there is normally some form of logic). What kind of benefit would you get from using this type of dark magic.

Lets pretend for a second that it does work. Why would a man that you have murdered and mutilated be helpful? If this happened to me, I'd haunt your backside. I'd even call in Casper to help if necessary.

And there's still people who believe in "mooti" these days? After so many years? Such animalistic behavior? Our country is really going down. To such ignorant, barbaric, heartless people. R.I.P. Nkosinathi.
