All victims of ZCC accidents are identified

Two of the bus victims were from Gauteng while the rest came from KwaZulu-Natal

ALL ten victims of the accident in which a bus and a car collided outside Polokwane, Limpopo, on Sunday night have been identified.

The police said yesterday that the families of the victims had identified the deceased. The bodies had been taken to their homes for burial at the time of going to print yesterday,

Nine of the victims died when the driver of the bus in which they were travelling lost control and hit a bridge. The bus fell into a stream.

The passengers were Zion Christian Church members returning from a convention in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. They were on their way back to KwaZulu-Natal.

Captain Mohlaka Mashiane confirmed that all the bodies had been accounted for. He said two of the bus victims were from Gauteng while the rest came from KwaZulu-Natal.

Mashiane identified the victims as Maria Baloyi and Thulisile Zondo, both from Gauteng; Bonakele Mazibuko, Isabel Madondo, Thandi Magwaza, Mika Lele, and Salamina, Khumalo and Mabutho (no surnames provided), all of KwaZulu-Natal. He said the ages of all victims had not yet been established.

The other victim, who drove the car that collided with the bus, was identified as MJ Makgoba, who was born in 1985, Mashiane said.
