Yesterday the ANCYL national executive committee announced that it had disbanded its KwaZulu-Natal provincial executive committee

Malema is currently involved in what has been described as a mortal political battle with Zuma.

He is facing charges of sowing division and bringing the ANC into disrepute.

The ANC Youth League has disbanded the provincial executive committee (PEC) of its KwaZulu-Natal branch, it said on Sunday.

"Of great concern is ... that throughout their disregard of the organisational process and due political conduct, the PEC did not express any intention to receive political guidance from the national executive committee (NEC)," league spokesman Floyd Shivambu said in a statement.

Shivambu said the PEC defined itself outside the resolutions and guidance of the youth league's congress by making statements that the NEC was a "factionalist formation".

The decision was taken at an ANCYL NEC meeting held in the province on Saturday.

The ANCYL planned to charge certain PEC members with "active involvement in mobilising members ... to defy and disregard the decisions of the NEC".

Those expected to be charged were former chairman Mthandeni Dlungwane, former deputy secretary Siboniso Duma and former treasurer Yolanda Young.

Duma claimed the NEC was "factionalist" at a special meeting to discuss possible disbandment last Saturday.

He said they were being targeted because of their backing of President Jacob Zuma to serve a second term.

A task team would be set up as the official voice of the provincial youth league until the provincial congress. Duma also laughed off the decision to disband them.

"Firstly, it must be noted that the charges themselves are not based on principle, but are factional," Duma said. "It's Malema running his trust and we will not be intimidated.

"Actually we have already written to (ANC secretary-general Gwede) Mantashe to inform him that we have been purged for standing on principles of the ANC. As things stand, we are continuing with our work as PEC.

"Tomorrow we have a special meeting and we don't recognise this provincial task team."

The NEC of the ANCYL has called on its mother body to open up the succession debate to avoid further "factionalism" created by "anti-Zuma turned pro-Zuma" KwaZulu-Natal structures.

The NEC was in KwaZulu-Natal at the weekend to focus specifically on the developments of the ANCYL KZN PEC, which has been at loggerheads with its national structure on, among other things, pronouncing that President Jacob Zuma was its preferred candidate for the presidency of the ANC for its Mangaung national elective congress.

Though the succession debate is formally closed by the ANC, it is believed that the ANCYL wants Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe to replace Zuma and Fikile Mbalula to take over from Mantashe as secretary-general of the ANC.

"As the NEC of the ANCYL, we are concerned about factionalism created by the provincial executive council after pronouncing President Zuma for a second term," deputy president onald Lamola said.

" The PEC openly defied the organisation by making such a pronouncement. They defined themselves outside protocol. The succession debate seems to be only open in KwaZulu- Natal and we are of the view that this matter cannot be closed to all other provinces but KZN alone.

"They openly accused the national leadership of being anti-Zulu." .

ANCYL general secretary- Sindiso Magaqa suggested it was time for the ANC to open the succession debate and launched an attack of KZN Premier Zweli Mkhize after Mkhize spoke where there was a banner with the writing "Zuma for president in 2012".

"He did not reprimand members who displayed it," Magaqa said. "Clearly some members are more equal than others."

Mkhize's spokesperson, Ndabezinhle Sibiya. said Mkhize had not seen the banner but was alerted to it.

Malema should run out of fingers to stick in the dike soon. Machine gun man is not done - so far he only deployed Shabangu in defence who has done a good job of stop two of Malema's cash cows - Kunene and Castle.

Juju is going down people should start realising. The ANC will regroup afterwards. You cannot challenge the president. He must be suspended for 5 years and I advice him to complete his degree by that time and comeback strong.
