Police save headmaster

POLICE had to rescue a school principal in Mpumalanga who had locked himself in his office yesterday out of fear of being harmed by protesting pupils.

Police raced to Vukuzame Senior Secondary at Tweefontein C, near KwaMhlanga, at 10am and found hundreds of pupils protesting on the premises, Captain Eric Mathavha said.

They wanted the principal fired after he allegedly suspended a female teacher a week ago.

"Police found the gate locked and had to cut holes in the wire fence in order to gain entry. They then restrained a group of pupils who were kicking the door of the principal's office."

Classes were suspended until today.
