I've no desire to become SA president

Jun 23, 2011 | Kingdom Mabuza | 680 comments

ANC Youth League president Julius Malema says he has no ambition of becoming president of the country in the future.

I'm not powerful. I am a nobody from Masakaneng. If I was not president of the Youth League, nobody would be talking about me - Malema

Speaking on SABC radio, Malema insisted he did not fancy the job.

"I have no ambition of being president of the republic," he said.

He denied that he was powerful and said he was in the spotlight merely because of his position in the ANCYL.

"I'm not powerful. I am a nobody from Masakaneng. If I was not president of the Youth League, nobody would be talking about me."

Malema said leaders of the league before him were also in the public eye because they led the ANC Youth League.

The league wants Mbalula to take over from current ANC general secretary Gwede Mantashe when the party goes to its conference next year.

Malema said the ANCYL would engage the ANC to open the succession debate early to allow enough time for discussions on leadership.

Malema accused Minister of Planning Trevor Manuel of not developing a plan to change conditions of the poor.

"It is three years now and nothing has come, except a document that seeks to diagnose the crisis in South Africa," he said.

mr malema, you are the only man with galvenised (strong) balls to change the attitude of the worst evil racists in the world. mandela, thabo and zuma failed to transform these people with strong hatred towards dark people. mugabe and idi Amin were pushed too far by these devils, THE STRUGGLE GOES ON, THERE IS NO TIME TO NEGOTIATE WITH THIEVES OR CRIMINALS.

@Memme - for sure he doesn't stop his mouth spouting his opinion and if you agree with him good for you, but he lacks diplomacy that is the downfall of any leader.

@ takoskonvict
People must get things clear as Africans/Blacks we don't hate white people; we never have - however, we want Government to level the playing fields to ensure that the masses benefit from the fruits of our liberation. The whites can keep their mines we don't want it -but we want land; commercial land; we want a partnership to develop the agricultural land as this is where the strengths of the white man lies. We can all work together in harmony if the few elite blacks stop fleecing the country and if the white and multi-nationals take a stand and share their riches with the masses and not a few blacks to save their skins. We need honest leaders to liberate our country. Malema is definitely not honest and will never be. Zuma was the people's President until he put on the crown then all corruption broke loose. Only Vavi, Cyril Ramaphosa, Trevor Manual, Kgalema Motlanthe, Dr Mamphela Ramphele, Pravin Gordon, Tokyo Sexwale, Fikile Mbalulu, Azapo & PAC Leadership can save this country now or else God help Africa. Patricia De Lille and Helen Zille can defect from the DA and cross over to the ANC to join this formidable team.

why do you call our future president stupid? what it is your solution of tranforming these people, beleive me, these people are worse than the germans, australians, israelis. they are dragging their feet in everything, we are better of without racists like these. they are the ones who are slowly destroying this country. we are oil and water, the only solution is to eliminate each other.
