Youth urged to study

FORMER Limpopo Youth Commission chairperson Seaparo Sekoati has urged the youth to prioritise education because it is the cornerstone of every development.

He was speaking at his graduation ceremony at the University of Limpopo's Turfloop Campus on Wednesday.

The former provincial MEC for health and social development, and at present chairperson of the portfolio committee on provincial administration in the Limpopolegislature, received his Master's degree in Development.

He was among 2107 students who received certificates, diplomas, honours, master's and doctorates at the institution on the day.

Sekoati urged other politicians to further their studies in order to lead people.

"It is through education that the youth will be able to have a vision and take the country to greater heights," Sekoati said,

"South Africa needs skilled people to develop.

"I worked very hard to obtain my master's. I urge young people to go to school and study hard. Let us fight crime, criminal activities, teenage pregnancy, drugs and alcohol abuse."

University vice chancellor and principal Mahlo Mokgalong congratulated Sekoati on encouraging and motivating young people.

"We believe that through his graduation, Sekoati will be an example to other students because they would want to emulate him," Mokgalong said.
