Over 4000 unqualified teachers - in just 1 province

"Government bosses should hang their heads in shame -- 172,000 pupils are being 'taught' by these unqualified teachers"

Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga admitted there were 4,303 unqualified teachers teaching in KwaZulu-Natal schools, the Democratic Alliance said on Friday.

“Minister Motshekga as well as KZN [education] MEC Senzo Mchunu should hang their heads in shame that their departments continue to condemn some 172,000 pupils taught by these unqualified teachers in mainly impoverished schools,” DA MP Alf Lees said in a statement.

“When will the ANC get serious about providing all South African  children with the opportunity of a globally competitive education?”

He said the African National Congress, after 17 years of democracy, was good at making statements about how well it was doing with the education of South African children from disadvantaged backgrounds, but the reality was the complete opposite.

The department of basic education was not immediately available for comment.

Each elected goverment of the ANC raises issues but rarely solves any.

The only decent minister at the moment is Arron M (Minister of Health).

i see nothing wrong having these unqualified teachers teaching our children, coz u wil go to another school find a qualified teacher doing nothing. so whats the use, lets appreciate the fact that these ppl took that initiative to go assist our children, what is left for the gorverment to do is make sure they get these ppl capacitated and get them qualifications. i hate this nyere nyere frm ppl like CrimsonRed le bo phuphuthekhaya, u are not assisting. stop focusing on critics, and look at the positive side of this,,yeslek
