ANC supporters spoil posters
DISGRUNTLED Cape Town ANC supporters have torn up their ward council candidate's posters during a protest march.
About 200 people vented their anger on posters bearing Nozuko Mchitwa's photo in Delft on Saturday.
They also accused ANC NEC member and MP Caroline Makasi of misleading them.
"During the selection process Joe Mfecane beat Nozuko Mchitwa by 40 votes. But later Mchitwa was announced as winner," protester Sivuyile Gxokonyeka said.
The protesters said they would not vote in the coming local government elections.
Makasi laughed at the allegations. She said people were not aware which ward they fell into when they registered.
She said that their preferred council candidate, Mfecane, was demarcated in ward 106 and that was why he could not be the candidate for ward 13.She added that later she had heard that Mfecane swapped houses, and had moved to ward 13.
The residents accused Mchitwa of corruption. She could not be reached for comment.

By not voting you're saying it's okay for ANC to dictate who you should vote for. If you vote against them...next time they won't take your vote for granted, they'll take their constituency serious.Report Abuse

This is another sign that the ruling party is not doing enough and also to up root elements of corruption within the party, as such that can cause the party several wards in the country and ultimately some municipalities, so the high office Lethuli house must sort out this mess before it is too late.Report Abuse

ANC at the moment is far out of order and our president allow all this rubbish to happen. This need urgent intervention by him if he need cooperation from S African people. Mayors and councellors are elected by the community as they are there to serve them and are paid by their taxes. I will encourage the people to vote for other parties and give ANC a break. Maybe they will sort themselves out and choose a president not the cirsus president . By refusing to vote woun't change anything because those corrupt people will still be thereReport Abuse
