Uyanda side-steps Juju

RED Carpet queen Uyanda Mbuli has pulled out of the much-anticipated Metro FM afternoon drive-time show she was to co-host with Julius Malema for a day.

Mbuli and Malema were scheduled to be guest stars on the popular slot tomorrow but Mbuli said she was no longer available.

She was one of several celebrities hand-picked to host shows this week ahead of the station's unveiling of a new line-up on Friday.

The afternoon drive-time show was previously hosted by Unathi Msengana and Glen Lewis, who have been moved to the breakfast slot starting on April 1.

According to Mbuli, head of marketing, communications and customer relations at the Gauteng Liquor Authority: "I would have loved to do it but unfortunately I will be working. I agreed to be part of the show but when I found out that it was during a working day I told Metro FM to take my name off the list.

"It would have been nice to do a show with Julius. I'm sure he will do a good job," Mbuli said.

Metro FM brand executive Kina Nhlengethwa said the station was looking for a replacement for Mbuli.

The show's star-studded line-up includes Generations stars Sophie Ndaba, Zolisa Xaluva and Thami Mngqolo on Monday.

Controversial celebrity journalist Kuli Roberts and comedian Joey Rasdien appear on Tuesday.

On Thursday queen of bling Khanyi Mbau and funnyman David Kau will keep fans entertained.

On Friday T'bo Touch, best known for presenting the Pimp my Fridays and Rhyme and Reason shows, will take over the slot as host. Touch will be replaced by Sphe and DJ Naves.

Nhlengethwa said the reason for using celebrities was to create hype for the station's new line-up starting on Friday.

Another big change to Metro's line-up includes DJ Oskido taking over on Saturday evenings from 8pm to 10pm.
