Malema puts challenge to Zuma
ANCYL president Julius Malema said the only way President Jacob Zuma could be assured of a second term would be if he committed himself to a radical economic programme for the country.
"A leader who will emerge (in 2012) is a leader who will commit to a radical economic transformation programme. To transfer wealth from the minority to majority without pleasing Britain and imperialists," Malema warned.
After his inauguration as president, Zuma visited England, where he assured the British that nationalisation was not ANC policy. The ANCYL is calling for the nationalisation of mines.
Malema emphasised that ANC leaders were elected to serve for one term.
"President Zuma remains our president until 2012 since what will happen after 2012 will be decided by the conference of the ANC," he said.
He cited the experience of 1949 when the ANCYL led by Nelson Mandela removed then president of the ANC AB Xuma because he was not prepared to implement the radical programme of action developed by the league.
"Madiba went to look for a leader suitable to implement a radical programme of action, and James Moroka emerged."
Malema said the national general council would be used to review the party's policies and programmes.

I voted for the ANC. I never voted for Juju. He came in through the backdoor. And now sounds like he is a Principal of South Africa. He has placed himself above our constitutional system. We vote for a blank cheque and this guy comes along and writes what he likes on the cheque. Its about time 45 million South Africa voted for their president. Whatever merits Juju and his hidden friends may have, 4000 people in Polokoane cannot decide for 45 million people. We now want to play the democracy game, so lets play it right JUJU!
