'Ex-hubby raped me'
POLICE yesterday confirmed they were investigating claims by a top soapie star that they refused to charge her ex hubby for rape and kidnap.
Doris Mthembi who plays Ntshavheni Mukwevho on the SABC2 soapie Muvhango, says she was turned away when she tried to lay charges against Thohoyandou businessman Goddard Mugwena "because police had other pending cases against him".
Makhado Police spokesperson Captain Maano Sedike said they were probing the allegations by Mthembi.
Mthembi claimed she went to the police station on Wednesday to report a case against Mugwena but the police refused.
She said Mugwena kidnapped her at gunpoint in Tzaneen on Tuesday and drove off with her to Louis Trichardt, where he allegedly assaulted and raped her.
The two had been in and out of court recently after their relationship soured when Mthembi allegedly fell in love with another man while still married to Mugwena.
Mugwena confirmed he had assaulted her during a fight.
"I only pushed and hit her in the face with open hands because she was aggressive during the fight," he said.
But Mthembi said she fought him to avoid being raped. She showed this reporter bruises on her face, which she claimed were inflicted by Mugwena.

Mr. Makana, please proof read your articles before you publish them. In the 2nd paragraph you state that she tried to lay charges against Ragwal instead of Mugwena!Check the spelling on the first sentence, you've got "whe" instead on "when".

No one has a right to do what he/she wishes to the other one, he must be charged for rape, and this police are wrong to have pending cases against him that is not an issue they have to open another one. O busy mos yena ka crime they can pile and pile it doesn't matter.Report Abuse
