THE driver of the taxi involved in an accident with a train on Wednesday resulting in the death of 10 children has been arrested, Cape Town police said.
The man was expected to appear in the Blue Downs magistrate's court tomorrow and will face charges of culpable homicide.
Ten children died as a result of the incident - nine on the scene and one on Friday in hospital.
The accident happened when the taxi in which they were travelling allegedly jumped a queue of cars waiting at a rail crossing in Blackheath and was hit by an oncoming train.

I think for me what makes it worse is the age of the driver. I can't even imagine what was going thru his mind right at that moment when he decided that he was gonna race with the train. I'm curious to know though if he would've done that had his kids been in that car as well. Now his family is also feeling guilty and probably scared to be seen in their neighbourhood because of an old man's irresponsibility...Report Abuse

The guy must go right away to JAIL , it was sad with the families emotions ...imagine 10 life just like that . May their Souls Rest-In-Peace .i think is a lesson for other irresponsible 'TAXI' drivers .Report Abuse
