TWELVE future soccer superstars jet out to Sao Paulo, Brazil, tonight for a life-changing week-long coaching and life skills training camp.

Accompanied by retired soccer legend Gardner Seale and Sowetan and Sunday World deputy sports editor Mcelwa Nchabeleng, the youngsters will visit the famous São Paulo Futebol Club's academy in São Paulo as a part of the Sowetan Nation Building-supported Dettol Shona Khona education through sport programme.

The boys are Musa Qongo, Mpumelelo Hlatshwayo, Andy Singo, Liam Davies, Luthando Banjatshwa, Ayanda Rorwana, Kamohelo Sithole, Claudio da Silva Carao, Keegan Bailey, Tsholanang Maidi, Mongezi Nkosi and Sibusiso Madaka.

The young players had impressed South African selectors and development soccer coaches Bradley Carnell, John "Bull" Sibeko, Gardner Seale and Professor Orlando de Oliviera, their Brazilian counterpart from Sao Paulo FC Academy.

They were chosen from 74 national camp candidates, who were selected from more than 3000 hopefuls at regional camps across South Africa over the past few months. This involved mentoring schoolteachers-cum-coaches at 200 schools nationwide.

Dettol Shona Khona takes 12 talented youths to Brazil every year.

The programme instils a winning attitude in up to 3000 youths each year, making a positive impact on youth development by educating communities and nurturing soccer talent.
