Mathale in bid to save ANCYL

IN a move seen as a way to save the ANCYL sinking ship, Limpopo Premier Cassel Mathale has met ousted Limpopo chairperson Lehlogonolo Masoga.

IN a move seen as a way to save the ANCYL sinking ship, Limpopo Premier Cassel Mathale has met ousted Limpopo chairperson Lehlogonolo Masoga.

Mathale, a known ally of ANCYL president Julius Malema, wants Masoga to withdraw his case against the league's national leadership.

Mathale has also allegedly promised to reconvene the league's elective conference in Makhado should Masoga accede to his request.

His intervention comes at a time when concern has been raised within both the ruling party and youth wing about the raging leadership battles within its youth wing.

Yesterday the ANC met the ANCYL leadership to discuss what has seemingly grown into an internal revolt within the youth wing.

Masoga has lodged an application in the Johannesburg high court to stop a disciplinary hearing against him.

The ANCYL leadership also faces another court action from its members in the Eastern Cape, who have accused them of trying to get rid of anyone against Malema serving a second term as president.
