THE inland taipan snake has only 0.1g of venom in its poison glands, but that tiny amount can kill 100 people. But what it would prefer to kill, and then eat, is mice and that 0.1g of venom can kill 200000 of them.
It is a very shy snake, though, and does not pose much of a threat to humans.
The highly aggressive Asian cobra is less poisonous, but is responsible for most of the 50000 snakebite deaths each year.
