Tempted to cheat due to sexless marriage for the past two years

Respect your wife - in sickness and health.

Relationship Question: I have been in a sexless marriage for the past two years as my wife is recovering from a major illness and has not been interested in sex in a long time. I am tempted to have sex with a colleague at work but feel guilty about my feelings, what should I do?

BOITUMELO replies:

It must be hard to have to take care of your wife but also have such inner conflict. You have been a loving and respectful husband for the past two years and have been managing without sex.

It is normal to have feelings or desire for sex because you have not been sexually active for a while. You suddenly see all these other women as possible sexual partners. You are a human being. However, you have the ability to assert self-control and discipline as you have been doing throughout this difficult situation. Why question your strength now?

MOM replies:

In sickness and in health, goes the marital vows. Giving in to your sexual yearnings outside your marriage would be a selfish move on your part. Work at supporting your wife.

Help her get back to health. Above all, please respect her. If roles were reversed, would you be happy to hear she cheated on you while you were sick?
