Broken shoe heel on your way to a meeting?

You are strutting down the street, looking fabulous, when your heel suddenly wobbles and breaks.

Yes, everybody saw you. Yes, you will not fit into an ant hole, no matter how hard you try.

Who has never had a fashion oops? We all have.

A fashion accident happens when we least expect it, usually and inconveniently choosing to do so in a public place.

Luckily, we ordinary people are not the only ones prone to fashion booboos. Celebrities also fall victim, proving that fashion oopses can happen to the best of us. Who can forget the Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake nipple flash, or Doctor Malinga's ripped pants at the Samas in 2013?

With a broken heel on your way to an important meeting, all working women know the wisdom of carrying an extra pair of pumps.

We sought the help of a fashion expert to find out how we can go about fixing some of the other fashion accidents that can happen to us.

Grace Mantjiu, a beauty editor at Essentials magazine, gives us valuable advice about how we can bounce back from these fashion accidents.

LIPSTICK STAINS

So you bumped into someone who was overly eager to see you, and they immediately give you a warm hug, leaving behind lipstick and their muddy foundation smudges on your white shirt.

FIX THAT OOPS!

"Hairspray works very well with lipstick stain," Mantjiu says. "Women have all sorts of things in their handbags or cars and, believe me, you will find one at a party.

"Spray then leave it for a minute or two, dab with a clean white cloth. You can use wet wipes too; don't rub (on it) just dab."

POPPED BUTTON OR ZIP

We have all been through this one. Who hasn't sucked their tummy in while wearing a sexy tight number, only to relax during the day and see a button flying up in the air?

FIX THAT OOPS!

"I know this sounds weird but it works. Use a key ring if the button comes out.

"Make a hole where the button was and thread the keyring through then use the ring as a button," Mantjiu says.

"If the zip gets stuck, use a pencil on both sides of the zip. Graphite works as a lubricant. You can also use lip balm."

BREAKING A HEEL

Most women have experienced this. The only downfall is that people will look at you like you are an amateur and cannot walk in killer heels. But, the truth is that it happens to the best of us. Just like a car is prone to hit potholes, one wrong step can see your precious heel breaking off.

FIX THAT OOPS!

"Don't be shy to ask for help. First check if you have superglue in your bag, and fix it temporarily.

If you don't have that, use chewing gum but be extra careful when walking. In some cases you might find that it's possible to reinsert the heel back in, just check the alignment of nails or other pieces."

EYELASH DILEMMA

You are on a date when you realise that one of your false eyelashes is coming unstuck. What do you do?

FIX THAT OOPS!

"Oh dear, this can be embarrassing, but no worries; it can be sorted in a few minutes," says Mantjiu. "Excuse yourself from the table, then get a toothpick, apply glue on the tip then a bit of glue on the eyelash.

"Most restaurants should have these two. Just make sure it's not superglue because that will lead to another oops drama.

"Push the lash onto your lashline using the toothpick to secure. If you can still see a bit of white residue from the glue, use black eyeliner to cover that."
