I know feminists will come down on me like a ton of bricks for the headline, but like it or not most men are still traditional and ‘old school’ when it comes to their choice of partner.

A study conducted by Researchers at the University of Iowa found the modern man to be interested in intelligent, educated women who are financially stable and chastity wasn’t an issue.

According to LiveScience.com, the findings were part of a study, conducted every decade since 1939 in which participants were asked to rank a list of 18 characteristics they would want in a partner on a scale ranging from "irrelevant" to "essential."

So while the ability to cook and clean still rank high for some, an intelligent woman who knows what she wants tops the list.

A good cook

Although a lot women think it is not an important feature, men are attracted to a lady who can cook more than anything. The way to a man’s heart is still through his stomach. It may sound a bit selfish but take care of me and you are number one on the list.

Laundry

Again, washing my clothes for me shows that you care about my image and that you always want me to look my best. I personally do not expect my lady to wash my clothes, especially if we are not engaged, but that doesn’t mean she shouldn’t offer.

‘Eish gents she is too expensive’

This is not because guys are cheap but no guy wants a lady who wants to be taken to fancy restaurants and do these ‘retail therapy’ nonsense everyday.

How are we going to feed the kids if all you want to do is spend money on shoes that you are probably going to only wear twice?

Yes we enjoy the occasional outings and spoiling our ladies but it should not be a prerogative. Ladies, that ‘cheap’ guy is saving for your future together. Choose wisely.

The kind, or amount of respect you give to a guy determines the readiness to meet his parents.
