Fatty foods can actually help you lose weight

People find it hard to continue with their weight loss process because low fat foods actually make them hungrier.

Lets be honest, diet or not, when one is hungry one will eat and often, those attempting to shed a bit of weight are led to believe they can achieve this by consuming low fat food. But this is not necessarily true.

According to a United Kingdom based nutritionist Sarah Flowers, low fat foods will not help with weight loss in any way.

“We have learnt to put more emphasis on calorie count of foods rather than their nutritional value. Dieting is not all about calorie counting.

“Foods which are often marketed as low fat will in fact make you hungrier, making it harder for you to maintain weight loss,” she said.

She gave a few tricks to a successful weight loss process.

The trick is to consume food that will keep one fuller for longer and food such as fruits, eggs, fatty foods such as butter and full fat milk are a way to go as these will remain in the stomach for longer.

It has also been reported that sugary foods also hinders the weight loss process. So have an apple whenever you have that urge for sugar.

Interestingly, Flowers said that people tend to eat more when they paying attention to something else.

She said that people must stop eating while watching tv, rather sit at a table and chew a bit slower.

Here are types of foods that will keep you fuller for longer:

Eggs – those who are trying to shed weight are urged to stay away from sugary ‘breakie’ such as cereal and ‘crack open an egg’.

Fats – Ironically, fatty fat foods can actually help you lose weight. Foods such as butter, full fat milk and cream will keep you away from the kitchen for longer.

Apples – Since sweets are usually blamed for weight gain, people are urged to stay away as much as they can and replace the sweet tooth with an apple.

Lean meat and fish – these are full of protein which is said to keep you fuller for longer.

- Green tea, almonds, beans, chillie, dark chocolate, oats and protein powders.
