An American woman, Amani Terrell, 20 braved the glaring stares from strangers as she strutted down Hollywood Boulevard in a bikini.
The sight of a woman walking in her bikini would usually not attract so much attention but the difference here is that Terell is not a skinny swimsuit model but a voluptuous and proud woman who weighs 260 pounds (about 118kg).
By walking down the popular street of California, Terrell hopes to help young women to learn to love their bodies no matter what size they are.
She also wanted to show that one can be big and confident.
"There's a misconception that big women have low self-esteem, I don't have low self-esteem," she told FOX KTTV Los Angeles
"You cannot seek validation from other people, this world is very cruel, you must seek validation within yourself and be kind to yourself," she said.
Terell whose public stunts have captured a lot of media attention also posted a photo of herself on Facebook with the following message: “So many people preach "self-love", however they never wear bathing suits. You have to love yourself from a size 25 until you get to your desired weight.’
