Cheating with your ex the new form of monogamy?

A shocking survey from AshleyMadison.com sheds light on the new trend of “sex with your ex”.

The extra-marital dating site asked their malfeasant married members whether they had ever contacted a former flame in hopes to hook-up – and a shocking 70% answered yes!

“When expectations are not being met at home it’s easy to start fantasizing about having sex with someone else,” says Noel Biderman CEO of AshleyMadison.com.

“Rekindling an old relationship is easy, familiar, and may not actually feel like cheating. Eventually this ‘just-sex-affair’ becomes complicated by emotions, issues and hopes - and maybe even threats to out the tryst from a disappointed ex hoping for more.”

This salacious survey uncovered some interesting facts about members who backslid into old relationships:

  • 33.4% of cheaters admit to finding their former flame on Facebook whilst 12% reconnect at school reunions where a staggering 50% of members confess to hooking up with a university boyfriend.

  • 28.4% actively sought out their ex by searching for them on-line, whilst 26.3% made use of their connections to mutual friends to hook-up.

  • Although the majority of members have considered sleeping with an ex, only 32% have actually “sealed the deal”.

  • Ex who wants more than sex: 50% of two-timing members risked their racy rendezvous being exposed to their spouse by a jealous ex.

“I was not surprised to see so many members getting back together with a former university boyfriend,” comments Noel.

“These relationships bring back nostalgic memories of a time before kids, mortgages and responsibilities – but these hook-ups always run the risk of being caught.

We see an influx of people joining the site who seek discreet, online affairs with like-minded strangers to eliminate the dangers that come with having sex with an ex. “
