Miss T.E.E.N SA not just a pretty face

This is a start to what dreams are made of for Danielle Smith who has recently been crowned Miss T.E.E.N SA 2013.

The Johannesburg born 19 year old is soon to represent South Africa at the international Miss T.E.E.N pageant in Houston,Texas a city better known for its passion for pageants, as seen in the most watched TLC show Toddlers and Tiaras.

The international Miss T.E.E.N pageant aims to find a humanitarian representative from the various countries.

The 'goldilocked' queen is nothing close to the typical blonde cliché.

“I am not just a pretty face. I'm a BSC student at the University of Pretoria. I make time for my studies like any other student. the title has not changed me much when it comes to my studies really.

“This title, the sash and the crown actually mean much more than the glitz and glam, it comes with a lot of responsibilities. The moment they hand the sash to you, it's as though they are saying; go and fix SA’s problems which you think are important. Basically you instantly become an absorber."

Danielle who has never been to modeling school, has given models a run for their money since the age of 12 when she was crowned 'first princess' for Little Miss SA .

“I have been motivated since then to go on and on at pageants, I dreamt of this day since I was eight or nine”.

On return Danelle aims to educate South Africans to help each other and not necessarily rely on government through voluntary work, “For now I want to see myself on that plane  to Texas to represent my country”.
