POPULAR vinyl-spinner DJ Kwazee is at the pinnacle of his glory.
Born Kwazi Mpumlwana, the 32-year-old, who is the cousin of Generations actress Nambitha Mpumlwana, is an entertainer and a seasoned businessman who owns a football club, a driving school, a music production company and the Uzogcwala Lounge nightclub in East London.
Born in Mzimkhulu, a small town that was incorporated into KwaZulu-Natal in 2006, after being part of Eastern Cape for many decades, DJ Kwazee says the town is the inspiration behind his business endeavours.
What do you like about Mzimkhulu?
It's a small town. Everyone knows everyone and it has a mixture of cultures.
Which are your favourite restaurants and why?
People's Choice is my favourite. It is easily accessible in the middle of town. The place is hospitable and it has the best fatcakes in town.
Your favourite nightspot in Mzimkhulu?
I enjoy going to Border Gate. It is vibey, safe and they play the best music.
Where do you go shopping when you are there?
If I don't go to Rhino, I shop at Makataka. What I love about both stores is that the staff are very professional, they are easy on the pocket and you always see someone you know.
Favourite hotel in Mzimkhulu?
Mzimkhulu Hotel. It is clean and the staff are warm and professional.
What makes Mzimkhulu great?
It is a small town with a rich history. It was a hotbed of political activity during apartheid.
Where do you chill with your friends?
We go to Embuzweni or Enyenyesi.
What's your favourite tshisanyama?
Komplass. They serve fresh meat from the nearby farms. Tourists love it too.
Where would you take a tourist for entertainment in Mzimkhulu?
To Mzimkhulu Wilderness Area, a nature reserve, and to Mzimkhulu River. They have the most beautiful views.
