Insects are con sumed in many cult ures. They are ch eap and provi de excellent nutr ition, and the varit ies I have e aten myself are del icious. Try simple fried ter mites. Next time the hum idity rises just before rai n, and the ter mites (or flyi ng ants as som e may call them) come out and buzz around the outside light, get a pan nice and hot, and go out with a net. Ca tch a good few, and take off the wings before dro pping them into the hot pan for just a few seconds. Delic ious! Loc usts can be prepar ed in a very sim ilar way, and are lar ger and crun chier, but other wise taste m uch the same. It is remi niscent of sl ightly oil y pop corn.

It might be good for experimenting new things. Anyway, who said insects must not be eaten?

My friend from Lompopo told me that Locust tastes like chicken. I want to try this....

Tried locust, scorpion, flying ants and (of course) mopani worms but you'd probably have to grind the mealworms up pretty small to get me to try them. They just look so mankie nasty.
