The annual 2016 Sowetan LIVE Mzansi’s Sexiest 2016 big reveal took place at the Bon Hotel Midrand .
President Jacob Zuma received a 'champion of the environment' certificate during a tree planting ceremony in Nongoma, KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday, the presidency said.
“He attended the ceremony where he planted a tree and was presented with a certificate,” said spokesman Bongani Majola.
The Champions of the Environment Foundation presented him with the certificate at Enyokeni Palace.
He had been invited by the foundation’s chairman Bantu Holomisa.
The event was part of the build-up to the United Nations COP17 climate change conference to be held in Durban in November.
The tree planting was held concurrently with the annual Zulu reed dance festival at the palace.
Zuma attended the reed dance festival, which aimed to create awareness in young women about the sacredness of chastity.
The president, Holomisa, KwaZulu-Natal Premier Dr Zweli Mkhize, provincial arts and culture MEC Weziwe Thusi, health MEC Dr Sibongiseni Dlomo were among guests who flocked to the annual event.
This year’s reed dance also marked King Goodwill Zwelithini’s 40th year as monarch of the Zulu kingdom.
This milestone established him as the longest serving king of the Zulus in recorded history.
