Best known as Mpho Madise, "Mo G", is best known as Kaya FM's weekend DJ, hosting the Kaya FM Top 40 on Saturdays 10am-2pm and covers the Sunday 10am-2pm slot.
The Joburg-born DJ wanted to become an astronaut when he was a boy but fate had other ideas.
He changed his mind after meeting 5FM's Tich Mataz, who later became his mentor. He has worked at Highveld Stereo and Radio 2000.
Though he plays a lot of R&B and Soul on Kaya, he says he is a big hip-hop fan.
When he is not in the studio he is off tenpin bowling and socialising with friends at the trendiest hot spots around Johannesburg. Born and raised in Jozi, Mo loves the buzz of the city.
What do you like about Jozi?
I like the "buzz" and pace of the city. The vast metropolis offers an intense jolt to your system, a fabulous initial ride but one that can and will cause you to crash if you are not prepared.
Within the confines of the city are millions of people, the latest technological advancements, downright bizarre contradictions.
What's your favourite restaurant and why?
Vilamoura Restaurant in Sandton and Pigalle Restaurant in Melrose Arch. They provide outstanding service and both serve delicious food. I also like the vibe there.
Where do you do your shopping?
I find most of my life necessities here. They have all leading brands available here and you can walk without being worried that your phone will be snatched.
Favourite hotel in Jozi and why?
The Palazzo Hotel at Montecasino. I love their breakfast and relaxing outside on the patio overlooking the beautiful gardens. It gives me the feeling that I'm away from the city even though I don't have to travel far.
What makes Joburg great?
The people and Cultural diversity is what gives this Joburg its edge. Also the elegance of the squares in the expensive suburbs and the exciting shops.
And, of course, the historic sights.
Where do you chill with your friends?
If I'm out with friends, you will either find us at Signature Restaurant in Morningside or Melrose Arch.
What's your favourite tshisanyama in Jozi?
Joe's Butcher in Alex is where the greatest meat and vibe is at. I go there whenever I miss the kasi vibe.
