All set for fashion contest

WE HAVE officially begun the Metro FM Awards fashion countdown! The red carpet in Nelspruit will surely be a parade of beautiful people wearing beautiful things.

Which designers will our favourite stars wear on the red carpet at Mbombela Stadium?

Celebrity stylist Iko Mash says in this year's Metros we'll be seeing nothing but gorgeous looks. He says celebs are expected to show Nelspruit how it's done, with bright, gorgeous and feminine looks.

"I'm betting on glamorous, sleek long and sexy dresses. Expect lots and lots of silvers, golds, oranges, yellows and purples. This is the happy year. People will go all out to brighten Mpumalanga."

Mash warns the stars to leave their tutu dresses at home.

"They are hideous and so was last year. It is late for them, so leave them at home," he says.

When it comes to make-up Mash says glowing and fresh faces will do this weekend.

He reminds people not to forget their hair.

"People don't realise that bad hair can ruin a good outfit. Hair frames your face and sets the mood of your look."

We have to say that while we can't wait to see who wins what, we're really looking forward to the stylish looks celebs will rock!

Of course there are no safe bets but we do have high fashion hopes. based on past style performances, for several celebrities.

Tsotsi star Terry Pheto hasn't let us down yet. She almost always goes for something classy. And she knows how to wear make-up.

Whether she's in thigh-skimming or strapless dresses, Sophie Ndaba's looks are always memorable conversation showing a lot of skin.

Remember Bonang Matheba's short, revealing Gert Coetzee dress at the CJC launch this year? She attracted a lot of attention in it, so she might opt for something just a little more discreet on Saturday. We love the way Coetzee dresses her because it allows her to flaunt those firm thighs of hers without going totally overboard. And we also can't wait to see her oh, so lovely Diva Divine hair.

While we do love Lerato Kganyago in short and elegant dresses, we really think she'd look fantastic in something longer.

YFM twins Hlelo and Ntando Masina will choose sexy minidresses that make a statement every time. Their dresses match their fun-loving and carefree spirits.

You can always count on Azania Ndoro to look fresh, glamorous and appropriate to the occasion. Last yea, her look topped nearly every best-dressed list.

Kabonina Qubeka's red-carpet look is such a departure from the ensembles of her TV character. The last time she did the walk she dazzled in a flowing dress. She will definitely elude the fashion police at this function.

You can always count on Khanyi Mbau to look fresh and glamorous for the occasion.

She might be the queen of drama but she always knows how to rock the red carpet. Pity the partners she chooses always disappoint.

Her love rival, Primrose Crous, also carries off party frocks well. One wishes she would change her hair!

Sonia Booth is a maven on the ramp, so it would be a travesty for her to drop the ball this time. Luckily, she's been on top of her game for the past couple of months. Between her wardrobe and her David Tlale dresses, she always makes a positive statement. I hope she will get a wig or something to cover that ehm ... head.

For the Metros, one prays that Brenda Ngxoli will be dressed by the same stylist who dresses her for The Real Goboza, or she should stay at home.

For Uyanda Mbuli fans I have bad news. This year she will not grace us with her royal presence.

The queen of the red carpet told Sowetan her job was taking a front seat these days.
