Gospel glory, Durbs nightlife

THE beginning of the weekend always leaves Phosho wondering which party to attend considering everyone is having parties these days.

YFM afternoon drive host Tholi B celebrated his birthday at The Bank on Friday night. Though he came late it was very refreshing to see him accompanied by a hot babe.

Last weekend I headed for the Banana City (Durban) just to get a taste of its nightlife. Afrolounge was the place to be, with DJ Tira having a party there - though I don't know what for.

I nearly mistook the place for a sheeben because of the clientele. People who attended his party looked like oskhotheni. But the free booze was gushing.

After partying so hard Phosho decided to attend the glamorous SABC Crown Gospel Music Awards at the International Convention Centre in Durban .

The quite annoying Palesa Mocuminyane, who presents Gospel Gold, was the MC of the event. We wonder, though, how she got the job. The event was way too heavy for her, which made things very difficult for co-host Mzwandile Ngobeni.

At one stage the former Generations actress nearly fell on the stage when she stepped on her dress.

Seasoned Ukhozi FM DJ Dudu Khoza was alone for the first time in her life. Phosho wonders if Mr Khoza is OK.

But Lady D looked depressed and lonely all night. Or was she bored? We hope all is well at home.

We spotted an interesting contrast between Pastor Solly Mahlangu and Sfiso Ncwane, who were sitting in the same row. The two were nominated together in most categories. But it looked as if the organisers wanted to humiliate Ncwane since Mahlangu collected all the awards.

Another woman who was flying solo was gospel singer Swazi Dlamini. She was without her hubby Tsepo Mngoma.

Phosho waited with baited breath to finally see Rebecca Malope's toy boy and was deeply disappointed when the queen of gospel arrived alone.

Kanti, when are we going to see Mr Right?
