Chunku , i got this from sunday world But the dossier showed that the lowest-paid actors - Anga Makubalo (MJ), Zenande Mfenyana (Noluntu) and Mandla Gaduka (Choppa) - earn an average of between R5500 and R8000 a week. The confidential document also shows that Zolisa Xaluva (Jason), Slindile Nondangala (Mam' Ruby) and Thato Molamu (Nicholas), who have been with the drama for less than less six years, earn an average of between R9000 and R11000 a week The dossier also states that Thami Mngqolo (Senzo), Katlego Danke (Dineo) and Winnie Modise (Khethiwe) earn an average of between R11000 and R13000 a week. It states that Sophie Ndaba (Queen), the longest-serving actress on the soap with more than 15 years, earned an average of R17000 a week and that her wage should be spiked to R30000 a week.

BORING NOW. There's a whole world out there. Generations is really not such a big deal that it has to hog page upon page while SOWETAN staff take a nice break from finding and reporting on ACTUAL NEWS.

Comparing Generations’ salaries to other sopies is like comparing Shoprite’s earnings to spaza shops’. They don’t call generations biggest for nothing. SABC will rather delay soccer than not screening generation. Generations is “generating” money for the SABC and Mfundi so actor must be fairly compensated for their hard work in keeping 7 million viewers glued to their tv sets. #Pay da money Mfundi.

Aug 27, 2014 10:25 | 1 replies

Kupe

True. Whether they earn R16k or not, their salaries are supposed to be market related. They should tell us what actors on 7de Laan and Isidingo earn - so that we compare apples to apples. The fact that i dont earn 16K a month should not be a factor. Fact is that they entertain a lot of people at the same time and I work in my small corner and very few people benefit from it, hence I cannot demand 100k but they can. Mfundi, pay up! Fact that the actors (some) waste the money should not mean they should not get a marked related salary. It's a separate and private matter. Disclosing that Menzi does have medical aid and that Mfundi paid for him was irresponsible and immature.

Take money out of your R5,000 salary and contribute it to people who earn more in a month than you earn in a year ..... sounds so wonderfully illogical!

I think generations pay is market related , if Choppa earns R5000 per week and he is a new comer its not far from R22k compared to 7de laan. Isibaya is not part of SABC so maybe their tarrifs are different

These people are earning too much and most of them its Generation that made them famous. The amount they get weekly is what I get monthly. Sophie Ndba alone earns R68k monthly. I think that more than enough for her dizzy role.

We all have the choice in the matter. 1. They went for auditions knowing exactly what they will be putting themselves through to, 2. They were told how much they will be paid and if it’s not a satisfactory job why don’t they walk and find themselves jobs that are paying better? Same applies to everyone in the working environment, its either you stay or you start looking.

For 10% of what he is paying them all I will give you a true life African solution to the problem. Just write that they all passed in a taxi accident. Everyone will be satisfied and you can bring in a lot of cheeeeeap negro actors from Nigeria and Zim as long lost family. Kaching!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mfundi has no right to disclose actors' salaries. Now that it is done, he must also tell us how much he gets per month (after expenses). Confidential is a word he is not familiar with.

Vundla told the media on Friday in a press conference that the lowest-paid actor in the soapie earned an average of R55000 a month (about R14000 a week). But the dossier showed that the lowest-paid actors - Anga Makubalo (MJ), Zenande Mfenyana (Noluntu) and Mandla Gaduka (Choppa) - earn an average of between R5500 and R8000 a week. "This means that the lowest-paid earns [about] R32000 per month and not an average of R55000 per month as they claimed in the press conference. This is all lies designed to portray us as greedy," said an actor who did not want to be named for fear of victimisation. The actors have asked that the salaries of Makubalo, Mfenyana and Gaduka, who have been with the soapie for less than four years, be increased to R12000 a week. The confidential document also shows that Zolisa Xaluva (Jason), Slindile Nondangala (Mam' Ruby) and Thato Molamu (Nicholas), who have been with the drama for less than less six years, earn an average of between R9000 and R11000 a week They are demanding their wages be hiked to R16000 a week. The dossier also states that Thami Mngqolo (Senzo), Katlego Danke (Dineo) and Winnie Modise (Khethiwe) earn an average of between R11000 and R13000 a week. They are demanding a wage of R20000 a week. It states that Sophie Ndaba (Queen), the longest-serving actress on the soap with more than 15 years, earned an average of R17000 a week and that her wage should be spiked to R30000 a week. The actors declined to comment on the matter and said they would tell it all at their press conference tomorrow at the Market Theatre. SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago declined to comment and referred us to Vundla, who was not available for comment. Generations head writer Bongi Ndaba also declined to comment, saying that she did not deal with actors' wages.
