Karabo Mogane wants to break away from the 'Idols' tag

Karabo Mogane has been hard work in studio and hopes that his second album will help him step away from “Idols winner” tag.

Karabo recently hosted a listening session for some of his fans where he shared the story behind his latest album Matters of the Heart.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE Karabo said that he wants to be an artist not just an “Idols winner“.

“I enjoyed writing this album because it was born from personal experiences. I am trying to establish myself as more than just ‘Idols winner’ but more as an artist and I am slowly getting there‚” he said.

The musician stepped into the spotlight as the winner of the singing competition in 2015 and has since released two albums. He shared that he does not want to be permanently defined by the platform that “launched” him‚ rather he wants that to part of his success story as an artist.

“My music has been doing great‚ the reception has been amazing and I am happy that I have touched people with music. That has always been my ultimate goal‚” he said.

Karabo has cemented his brand in the world after being selected to record the theme song of Disney Junior’s hit TV series The Lion Guard and has a couple of award nominations under his belt.

His song Khakhathi has also received a lot of airplay. He said he believes people relate to the album because it is “filled with love“.
