Model and presenter K Naomi has dedicated her degree to her late mother.

The sexy starlet from Mahikeng in North West graduated with a BA degree in brand building and management from Vega Bordeaux School this week.

Her mother, Margerette Noinyane, died in 2012.

“Two days before I lost my mom, she asked my sister to make sure I study and have something to fall back on.

“Three years of studying full time and an extra year to repeat a module... three years of sacrificing the things I enjoy and working on my career. Three years that I can confidently say were my toughest years,” she shared on Instagram.

Speaking to Sowetan yesterday, the starlet whose real name isNaomi Noinyane, said she was happy to finally fulfil her late mother’s wish.

“I am so happy, more so because I managed to do this while working and studying full time. A lot of people prefer to study part-time and work.”

Noinyane said she would not have been able to complete her degree if it was not for her mother who died in hospital of lung complications.

“I was studying something else at the time at Varsity College and I didn’t really like the course so I dropped out and was focusing on work. When she was in hospital she said she would be happy if I went back to school and had something to fall back on,”she said.

The BET A-list presenter and swimwear model said her sister and uncle helped her secure a bursary and forked out money for other things she needed for her studies.

“I made it this far because of their help. I am still paying off some loans from my first year studies but I am very thankful of their support. My sister is so happy right now you would swear she is the one who graduated.”

Noinyane, who is one of country’s reigning It Girls in the entertainment industry, plans on putting her degree to good use.

“I definitely want to go corporate soon. That is where the money is. I have my CV ready and will be sending it out soon.”

Noinyane joins a list of young celebrities who recently obtained academic qualifications. Skeem Saam actress Mogau Motlhatswi graduated with a BA degree from the University of Johannesburg (UJ) earlier this year, while Muvhango actress Innocentia Makapila Muvhango also graduated from UJ last year and this week bagged another degree.
