Zahara has parted ways with TS Records after six years.

The multi-platinum-selling singer, born Bulelwa Mkutukana in the Eastern Cape, left to start her own company.

Although she did not say when she left, Zahara confirmed that the parting was amicable and sources close to the singer said she was let go in December.

TS Records is co-owned by Thembinkosi "TK" Nciza and Sbusiso "DJ Sbu" Leope.

Zahara said her departure from the company that turned her into a superstar had everything to do with growth and exploring the industry.

Her debut album Loliwe, featuring the hit title track of the same name, sold over 100000 copies in 19 days and went on to win the best selling album at the SA Music Awards in 2011.

So close was her relationship with the company that she lived in Nciza's house while being groomed by his wife Nhlanhla of Mafikizolo fame.

"I will still work with TS Records whenever they need me or when I need them. It is my second home. Bhuti TK always encouraged me to show that I have grown in the industry. He is like a father to me.

"I know he is proud that I have left to stand on my own. I also realised that he is busy since he became a full-time politician," Zahara said.

She has already established her own company, Zahara Army, which does community development and events such as netball days. She also plans to sign other musicians.

Zahara also revealed that she is set to seal a partnership with Universal Records in London on Monday . The singer did not want to reveal how much the deal was worth.

"They called me and even came to South Africa to see me. They are interested in working with me and want to release my artists and me in London."

TS Records co-owner TK Nciza, who discovered Zahara and took her in when she came to Joburg from the Eastern Cape, declined to comment, referring all questions to TS Records talent manager Sanele Dlamini.

"We have not yet had a sitdown with her with regards to officially terminating her contract but I understand that there is talk about her wanting to grow and expand her career," Dlamini said.

Zahara has lately been doing collaborations with DJ Tira's Afrotainment, raising questions on whether she wanted to join the company.

She recently did a song titled Solomzi with DJ Tira and Sox.

Her wedding to Umhlobo Wenene DJ Amaza Ntshanga has been postponed to later in the year. She had planned to walk down the aisle with him in the first quarter of 2017.

The nuptials were postponed for "various reasons", including her hectic schedule.

In addition to Loliwe, Zahara has released two other albums with TS Records, Phendula in 2013 and Country girl in 2015.
