The Eastern Cape bred comedian and former teacher has already started shooting scenes for the local comedy in her role as domestic worker‚ Nobuhle.
“I’m so excited‚ actually‚ because this role was done by Brenda Ngxoli before. For me to be getting into her shoes‚ it means it’s serious and I’m really excited.”
Even though Khanyisa has ‘big shoes’ to fill‚ she’s confident she’s going to rock this by being herself.
“This role has never been played by a comedian before so I’m bringing something different. I’m also bringing myself and more laughter‚” she said.
Comedy lovers can also look forward to Khanyisa’s one-woman show‚ From The Classroom To The Stage‚ which will tour the country later this year.
Brimming with pride‚ Khanyisa said that Durban was one of her favourite places to perform at because of the overwhelming love from fans there. “Whenever I go to Durban‚ I just murder – I don’t know what it is about me and Durban‚ I always get a standing ovation.”
Khanyisa is set to perform alongside Tall A$$ Mo‚ Tumi Morake‚ Celeste Ntuli‚ Loyiso Gola and many more as part of East Coast Radio’s Kings and Queens of Comedy extravaganza on February 11.
