Backed by a 60-piece orchestra, a 30-piece vocal ensemble and dancers, Simphiwe Dana took to the stage wearing an ethereal white dress by the Pretoria-based designer Erre.
Her first song “Inkwenkwezi” from Kulture Noir moved the audience.
However, the highlight of the evening was when Dana was joined on stage by Asa from Nigeria and the Afro-Spanish sensation Buika to sing Malaika.
Describing the evening revelers took to social media to express how they felt. “That Simphiwe Dana Symphony Experience was otherworldly. I feel like I’ve undergone a spiritual cleansing,” said Babalwa Shota.
Actor Rami Chuene said, “This Simphiwe Dana Symphony Experience is one of my best decisions of 2016.”
The night ended with Dana singing a variety of songs spanning from her last three albums.
