Wololo! Babes wodumo is the new girl to watch

Babes Wodumo’s mega hit Wololo has returned to YouTube‚ after the company which had it removed was allegedly rocked by “xenophobic and abusive” threats.

The hit song was removed from YouTube for copyright infringement late last week‚ after a complaint from Mausay Media claimed that their artist Wyzle had released a video with the exact same title in December last year.

But speaking to TshisaLIVE on Monday‚ Mausay Media MD Cobus Burger said that the company had decided to ask YouTube to reinstate Babe’s video after being flooded with “countless xenophobic and abusive” messages.

“After our request (for YouTube to remove Babe’s Wololo)‚ we received countless xenophobic and abusive messages. So‚ we decided to stop the nonsense and gave notice to YouTube to reinstate the video‚” Cobus said.

Although Cobus would not repeat the comments they had received‚ he said that they were “strong enough” for the company to disable the comments section on their YouTube account‚ and had to delete it off their other social media pages.

“The comments were extremely rude and vulgar. Many were directed at Wyzle’s Kenyan nationality and accused him of taking away South Africa’s national anthem- but using swear words that were extremely rude and alarming‚” Cobus added.

Cobus said that the company had still not heard from Babes’ record label and were still deciding on what action to take against them.

“We have been trying to get hold of West Ink Records but they have not responded to any of our requests. We appeal to them to meet with us and not engage or respond using the media‚” Cobus said.

Meanwhile Babes has expressed excitement at the video’s return and encouraged fans to cotinue supporting to keep supporting the video as it steams towards 3 million views.

“Wololo is back up on YouTube please check it out if you haven’t‚ over 2 million views in 3 months. #History #Queeningformycountry‚” Babes wrote on Instagram.

Numerous attempts by TshisaLIVE to reach Babes Wodumo’s management for further comment on the matter proved unsuccessful.
