While the organisers are still raising funds to foot the bill for last weekend's Thank You SABC Concert, Mandoza has received his full payment.

The ailing kwaito star performed on Saturday at Orlando Stadium, surprising revellers when he got on stage, weak as he was, and delivered a good performance.

The event was staged in gratitude to the SABC for playing 90% local music on its radio stations.

Mandoza's manager Kevin Ntaopane said when Mandoza heard about the concert he volunteered to be part of it.

"He told me that he was not sick and wanted to perform. Even at the stadium Mandoza still wanted to perform more songs, but we switched off the microphones. He is so hungry to return to the stage that he has started exercising and lifting light weights."

Concert organiser Mzwakhe Mbuli said they included Mandoza because he had appealed to him.

He confirmed Mandoza was paid in full because of his condition and referred questions about the amount to Ntaopane.

"I met Mandoza at Samro in April this year. He appealed to me not to leave him out of my plans of any events that I do."

Ntaopane refused to reveal how much Mandoza was paid.

He said Mandoza was going for to his next chemotherapy treatment in two weeks.
