Mabala Noise Entertainment co-owner Reggie Nkabinde has resigned from two of his companies.

Nkabinde‚ who is also the African National Congress Youth League’s national treasurer‚ has been in the news recently following accusations by Economic Fredom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema that his entertainment company has unduly benefited from lucrative government tenders.

In a question-and-answer session in the provincial legislature on Tuesday‚ MEC for Human Settlements and Cooperative Governance Paul Mashatile said Nkabinde had resigned from two companies.

“Nkabinde became a director of a company called Urban Dynamics around 2011‚ and also around the same time became a director of a company called Maluleke Luthuli. I have been informed currently that Mr Nkabinde has resigned from the two companies‚” Mashatile told the sitting.

The two companies offer development planning services and appear to have other directors besides Nkabinde.

Mashatile said the two companies have done work with the departments worth millions of rands.

“Urban Dynamics performed work to the value of about R512-million‚ and this is over a period of over 17 years. It was first appointed in 1991.

“With respect to Maluleke Luthuli‚ the company performed work to the value of about R20-million‚ and this was since 2012‚” Mashatile added.

The MEC said that‚ according to information he has received‚ Nkabinde resigned from these companies three weeks ago.

Nkabinde is embroiled in a legal battle with the EFF after the party opened a case of racketeering and fraud against him in August.

He is believed to own 24 business. The Hawks have confirmed that they are investigating the businessman. – TMG Digital
