Team Babes Wodumo was at pains to deflect attention from the music sensation's love life yesterday.

This followed the release of a video at the weekend where Wodumo confessed in an interview with a Drum journalist that she was engaged to her boyfriend of seven years who is in the music industry. She would not identify the mystery man.

But it has long been speculated that Wodumo was dating her mentor Mampintsha of Big Nuz fame.

In the interview, Wodumo told the interviewer she had taken off the ring to avoid prying eyes and questions.

But yesterday, Wodumo tweeted: "Babes ushade no mculo guys, I'm releasing my second single and album before end of the year so ezomjolo zisamile nje!" (Babes is married to music guys ... the dating game has taken the back burner).

Wodumo's manager Victor Dlokolo also poured cold water on the speculation and insisted the musician was focused on her career and not settling down.

The news of Wodumo's engagement have been met with revolt from her legions of male fans, some even jokingly threatening to approach courts to stop the romance.

Social media has been abuzz with memes showing Mampintsha's face "vandalised", one of them declared that he was "wanted dead or alive (preferably dead)" with the hashtags #BabesCapture and #MampintshaMustFall.

Fans took the mickey out of the situation sharing wisecracks, such as Bongani Mazibuko who tweeted: "Wait what??? The national key point has been captured? Now watch the rand fall to its lowest since 2009."

Khanki o'Mude lamented: "I find it appalling that the @EFFSouthAfrica and the @Our_DA have been silent over #BabesCapture happening in Durban.. U @BABESWODUMO wethu"

Also adding: "Wololo is a National anthem.. and the author therefore is our lady (of) liberty, we can't allow this #BabesCapture to happen, not in our lifetime".

Wodumo's phone was switched off.
