TMG Entertainment can, on Thursday, exclusively reveal that top artists billed to be performing at the Thank You SABC Concert at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday have not yet been paid, casting doubt over the success of the show.
Three top artists included in the official line-up for the show have said that they will not be performing because "as it stands payment has not been received".
They include AKA, Jack Parow and Kwesta.
"We are not performing because we haven't been paid. As soon as we are paid AKA will tweet that he is performing there," said AKA's manager, Benza.
Jack Parow's team has also confirmed that he has not yet received payment.
"We require at least a 50% deposit before performing at an event. Until that is received, we will not be at the show," said his manager Wynand Myburgh.
Myburgh went on to add that the musician has been told that the money has been deposited but explained that the amount has "yet to reflect".
Riky Rick's name is also on the line-up but his management at Mabala Noise have said that he is unlikey to attend because of scheduling conflicts.
At the same time Uhuru, Oskido and Candy have said that they have received payment and will be the concert on Saturday.
Speaking to TMG Entertainment, Kwesta also said that "as it stands we can't confirm whether he will be performing because we haven't been paid yet. Until we get paid, then his attendance will be confirmed," said his manager KB.
Mzwakhe Mbuli, who is spearheading the concert, told TMG Entertainment that he was unaware of any payment issues.
"Nothing has changed to my knowledge. The artists who are on the bill will be performing. We'll see what happens on Saturday."
TMG Entertainment earlier this week reported on confusion over who would be footing the bill for the Thank You SABC Music Concert.
In an initial press release sent out, it was confirmed that the SABC would be carrying the costs.
However, the public broadcaster later disputed this, saying that it was acting in a "media sponsor" capacity.
"We are not paying towards the show. Mzwakhe (Mbuli) is heading it up and the SABC is only promoting the show on its various channels," said the broadcaster's Kaizer Kganyago.
Orlando Stadium seats 40 000 people and although Mbuli would not reveal how tickets sales have been doing, he did say that he expects a high turn-out.
"I'm not a prophet. We'll have to see what happens on the day but I am expecting around 20 000 people," he told TMG Entertainment.
