Why Cassper is keeping his coins: 'A lot of young talent go broke trying to act rich'

It seems those days of Cassper flashing his gold chains‚ watches and latest ride are long gone. Instead of splurging on the finer things in life‚ the rapper has decided to stash his cash.

Fans may have noticed how the rapper has gone from posting pictures showing off his expensive gear‚ to ones that show him keeping a coin jar‚ scrapping the last of the tomato sauce out of the bottle and even putting his house up for rent while he is away.

Many people have wondered what motivated the change‚ and the rapper kept them guessing until this week when he revealed that he has been part of an initiative with a well-known financial institution for National Savings Month.

He also took the opportunity to explain that he feels many young South Africans are getting into financial trouble because they are trying to appear richer than they are.

“This is something I feel strongly about. It’s too easy to go broke trying to keep up with what we think everyone else is spending. Particularly in these days of social media. You can’t judge wealth by what you see on Instagram‚” he added.

Actress and TV personality Pearl Thusi was also part of the initiative and agreed with Cassper.

“So many people go broke because they’re trying to keep up with a lifestyle on social media that they just can’t afford. I really want to get across the message that being wealthy isn’t about what you post on Instagram – it’s what you’re saving for your future!” she wrote.
